Project Overview
Khumbu App is a comprehensive mobile financial management platform for Khumbulekhaya Stokvel members. Their goal was to create a secure, feature-rich application that empowers members to manage their stokvel finances, access investment opportunities, and grow their businesses on the go.
The platform needed to handle secure member authentication, savings management, investment tracking, business development tools, travel solutions, and AI-powered financial assistance. We developed a sophisticated solution using Django, AI/ML integration, and modern web technologies to create a seamless experience for stokvel members.
The Challenge
Khumbu needed to create a comprehensive digital platform that serves multiple financial and business needs of stokvel members. They faced challenges with integrating AI-powered financial assistance, implementing secure biometric authentication, managing complex financial calculations for savings and investments, coordinating asynchronous task processing for notifications, and integrating WhatsApp/SMS messaging through Twilio for member communications.
The Solution
We developed a robust Django-based platform with Google Generative AI and OpenAI integration for intelligent financial assistance, Celery + Redis for asynchronous task processing, Twilio for WhatsApp/SMS notifications, and PyTorch for advanced ML capabilities. The platform features five core service pillars: Khumbu Savings, Khumbu Invest, Khumbu Business, Khumbu Travel, and Business Assist, all accessible through an intuitive mobile-first interface.
